Salesforce agreed to buy Rune; terms are undisclosed, with a reported $375 million value.

Why it matters: The deal would extend Salesforce's enterprise software and AI business into military logistics and government contracting. The reported consideration is about 195% above Rune's last reported $127 million valuation, though transaction value and a prior company valuation may not be directly comparable.

  • Salesforce announced the definitive agreement on October 29, 2026.
  • TechCrunch, citing Resilience Media, reported a $375 million cash-and-stock transaction.
  • Rune's TyrOS software forecasts military supply needs and operates in limited-connectivity environments.
  • The acquisition is expected to close in Salesforce's fiscal fourth quarter of fiscal 2027; Salesforce did not provide a calendar date in the announcement materials.

Salesforce announced a definitive agreement to acquire Rune Technologies, a defense-technology company focused on military logistics and sustainment, meaning the ongoing supply, maintenance and operational support of military forces.

The companies did not disclose financial terms. TechCrunch reported, citing Resilience Media, that the transaction is valued at $375 million in cash and stock. The report said the figure came from two people familiar with the transaction.

Rune's TyrOS software forecasts frontline supply needs, optimizes resource allocation and transportation, and supports military decision-making when connectivity is denied, degraded, intermittent or limited. Salesforce says the platform is already deployed with the U.S. Army and U.S. Marine Corps.

The acquisition would add tactical-edge logistics capabilities - software used close to frontline operations - to Missionforce, Salesforce's national-security software business. Salesforce launched that business unit in September 2025 to cover defense personnel, logistics and decision-making workflows. The company says its defense business has grown 80% year over year since then and has customers across all six U.S. military branches.

Rune was founded in 2024 by David Tuttle and Peter Goldsborough, former Anduril leaders. The company announced a $24 million Series A in July 2025, and had raised approximately $30 million in total, according to the TechCrunch report citing PitchBook. The same report put Rune's last valuation at $127 million. The reported $375 million consideration is about 195% above that figure, but an acquisition price and a prior valuation are not necessarily comparable measures.

Salesforce says the transaction should close in its fiscal fourth quarter of fiscal 2027, subject to customary conditions. The announcement materials provided do not state the quarter's calendar end date. Salesforce also has a 10-year Army contract with a $5.6 billion ceiling. An IDIQ contract is a vehicle that sets a spending ceiling for future orders, not a guarantee that the full amount will be purchased; the available materials do not establish that Rune's products are covered by it.

By the numbers

  • $375 million - reported cash-and-stock value of the acquisition
  • $127 million - Rune's last reported valuation
  • $5.6 billion - ceiling on Salesforce's 10-year Army contract, not guaranteed spending

Yes, but: Salesforce and Rune have not confirmed the reported price, and a contract ceiling does not guarantee purchases or show that Rune's products are covered.

What's next: The acquisition is expected to close in Salesforce's fiscal fourth quarter of fiscal 2027, subject to customary closing conditions.
